Dr. Bendimerad has served as consultant and advisor on risk management to several international organizations and corporations, including the World Bank, and United Nations organizations, as well as governments and corporations worldwide. He also served as Principal Scientist to RMS, a California Corporation and leader in the development of risk assessment models for the global insurance and reinsurance industry. Further, he used to be a faculty of the School of Engineering at Stanford University and in charged with the University’s seismic reduction program, which recently received the ATC-ENR award of one of the ten top seismic project in the country. Dr. Bendimerad earned his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Civil Engineering from the same university, and has written numerous articles and papers on the subject of disaster risk assessment and management.

Jerome Zayas leads the EMI Secretariat as Technical Manager on DRM. His portfolio includes serving as Project Manager of the DRM Master Plan for Greater Mumbai project, Project Coordinator of the Mainstreaming DRM in Megacities: Pilot Studies in Kathmandu and Metro Manila project, Social Mobilization Specialist of the Risk Sensitive Urban Redevelopment Planning project of Makati City. Prior to EMI, he has worked in various capacities in the areas of post-disaster community based rehabilitation, interfaith partnerships and conflict prevention, inclusive development, alliance building, and advocacy and social mobilization, mainly in Muslim Mindanao in the Philippines and Yogyakarta and Aceh in Indonesia.

Jom Daclan holds a degree in Public Administration and is currently pursuing his graduate studies in Public Management at the Ateneo de Manila University. Before joining EMI, he was a project evaluation officer for the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ Integrated Coastal Resource Management Project where he performed both technical and administrative functions. He also worked as research assistant for Conservation International-Philippines and spent more than three years with the World Wide Fund for Nature-Philippines (WWF-Phil) working as volunteer, technical assistant, project officer-in-charge, and later on project manager of WWF’s Humpback Whale Research and Conservation Project in the northern most islands in the Philippines.

Kent obtained his Master's degree in International Studies and Bachelor's degree in Public Administration at the University of the Philippines in Diliman. He was involved in the DRR in Greater Mumbai and UNWFP-CNADPR projects. Currently, he is assigned in the UNDP-Jordan Aqaba project. His current tasks revolved mainly on project management, research and in providing support to the Emergency Management Experts. He once worked in the UP Diliman CHED-Zonal Research Center—which caters on development of research among Higher Education Institutions (HEI) as a Senior Research Coordinating Officer. He was a delegate of the Philippines to the International Youth Summit for the World Food Summit in Rome in 1996.

Jaja currently works as Research Assistant for the Earthquakes and Megacities Initiative. She graduated from University of the Philippines, Diliman with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and is presently taking up her Masters in Urban and Regional Planning in the same university. Before joining EMI, Jaja worked as market researcher for North America at Environments Global, Ltd. She also worked as research assistant in UP Diliman in cooperation with GRIPS (National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies).

Domz graduated from the University of the Philippines with a bachelors degree in Community Development. As a student, he has had experience working with multi-disciplinary institutions like NGOs, Local government units, scientists and academe in the context of DRR. Jerome currently works as Research Assistant for the EMI's Knowlegde Management unit. He graduated from UP Manila with a Bachelor of Arts' degree in Development Studies and is presently taking up his Masters in Technology Management in UP Diliman. He is tasked to maintain EMI's website and other Knowledge Management Tools as well as providing IT support to EMI's projects. Jerome started as an EMI Intern in 2006 and has been a part of the organization ever since.

Leigh is the GIS Analyst for EMI. He participated in the development of maps for DRR in Kathmandu and Makati City. He is a major contributor in the development of the Mumbai Disaster Risk Atlas. Currently he is developing a DRR GIS Capability Maturity Model. Prior to working with EMI, Mr. Lingad has various experiences with community based disaster risk reduction and development of participatory 3d mapping, and other GIS projects. Leigh is taking up is Masters of Science in Geography in the University of the Philippines Diliman.

Jaja is an Urban Planner and a full-pledged licensed Environmental Planner. She currently works as an Assistant Project Manager for the Earthquakes and Megacities Initiative project in Pasig City. She holds a post graduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, School of Urban and Regional Planning. Jaja obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the same university. Before joining EMI, Jaja worked as market researcher for North America at Environments Global, Ltd. She also worked as research assistant in UP Diliman in cooperation with GRIPS (National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies).

Jenie is a certified public accountant and has more than five years experience in international NGOs. Before joining EMI, she has worked for the Knowledge Channel Foundation, a non stock, non- profit organization with primary objective to educate and empower poor and marginalized children through media in the Philippines, Oxfam Great Britain, and Winrock International – Amore (Alliance for Mindanao Off-Grid Renewable Energy a USAID Project.
