EMI launches the WBI Distance Learning Program in Metro Manila

EMI is poised to implement the NDCC-WBI Disaster Risk Management Training Course in the Philippines, kicking it off on September 22, 2006 with the Program Launching and Orientation (f2f) Workshop to be held at the Mini-Theater and CARID Computer Room at the University of Makati, City of Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines. Support for the launching/workshop is provided by the World Bank Institute and the City of Makati, which is hosting the event.
Seventy-seven participants will attend the first course, the Comprehensive Disaster Risk Management Framework. About 28 participants come from various provinces outside Metro Manila. Five participants will access the Web-based training course from their locations in Banda Aceh, Bangkok, Kobe, and Sudan. The online phase will commence on September 25, 2006 and will end on October 27, 2006. The succeeding five specialization courses will be delivered by EMI in 2007
