The Community-Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) Course of the WBI/NDCC/EMI Distance Learning Program on Disaster Risk Management has just concluded with a passing rate of 66%. Twenty-two (22) out of the 33 registered participants will receive certificates of completion for having successfully fulfilled the requirements of the course. Ms. Eufemia Andaya (Center for Disaster Preparedness, Philippines) and Ms. Ma. Matilde Go (Department of Interior and Local Government, Philippines) provided able and expert support as tutor and facilitator, respectively, throughout the course.
The next course on Safe Cities will run from 19 February to 25 March 2007. The course will be co-tutored by Prof. Jeannette Fernandez (Escuela Politécnica Nacional, Ecuador) and Dr. Renato Solidum (Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, Philippines), and facilitated again by Ms. Go. Deadline for confirmation of participation is 16 February 2007.
