EMI discusses cooperation with Istanbul
Dr. Fouad Bendimerad and Dr. Friedemann Wenzel, EMI Chairman and Vice Chairman, respectively, held working meetings with officials of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) on 9-12 July 2007 in Istanbul, Turkey.� Various cooperation projects were discussed between during the meetings such as the implementation of the Indicators project in Istanbul, training of IMM technical staff and support for the implementation of the Istanbul Earthquake Master Plan.
During their stay in Istanbul, they visited AKOM, the Municipality's disaster response center and the newly re-opened and seismically retrofitted City Hall.� They also held a meeting with Mr. Mesut Pektas, General Secretary of IMM.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has been a partner of EMI for several years. The two institutions recently signed an agreement to further increase their cooperation in the context of the 3cd Program.
