The Asia Megacities Forum 2007 saw the signing of a declaration of cooperation between EMI and the Jakarta government to work towards reducing disaster risk in Indonesia's capital. The elements of the cooperation includes capacity building, development of a framework for a Disaster Risk Management Master Plan, and enhancement of knowledge and practices. The declaration galvanizes the EMI-Jakarta partnership which was initiated by the signing of a Letter of Intent by both parties on 14 April 2007.

The AMF 2007 was successfully held at the Nikko Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 24-26 October 2007. Supported by PDC, UNDP/BCPR and UN/ISDR, the  Forum was organized in partnership with the Jakarta Provincial Government and the Indonesia Institute of Technology, Bandung (ITB).

About 80 representatives from international organizations and EMI's Asian cluster city members, such as Tehran, Seoul, Mumbai, Makati, Quezon, Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Los Angeles, and Tashkent, participated in the event. Cities were given the opportunity to share and learn from each other's experiences in DRR through the City-to-City Share Fair portion of the Forum. The exchange of sound practices was in line with the Forum's overarching goal to facilitate the local implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action.

The proceedings of the Forum will be made available on this website soon.
