To strengthen its capacity on community-based disaster risk management and to further improve its linkages with other organizations specializing in disaster management, EMI took part in the launching the Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction Training Learning Circle (CBDRR-TLC) on December 14, 2007. The TLC, organized by the Center for Disaster Preparedness, aims to enhance learning through knowledge and solution exchanges, by focusing on addressing systemic gaps and topics in training and education. EMI was represented by Atty. Violeta Seva, Ms. Tara Ledesma, Mr. Kristoffer Berse and Mr. Irwin Lopez.
The whole-day program, held in the Asian Institute of Management Conference Center in Makati City, was graced by Gen. Glenn Rabonza of the Office of Civil Defense, Mr. Aloysius Rego of Asian Disaster Preparedness Center, Mr. Mehul Pandya of the All India Disaster Mitigation Institute and Ms. Joanne Burke of the United Nations Development Program-Capacity for Disaster Reduction Initiative.
The EMI staff participated in numerous workshops and activities designed to increase the knowledge on CBDRR of those who attended. An Organizational Network Analysis and Mapping was conducted to establish the links and inter-relationships among the participating organizations to be able to assess and strengthen the current state of the organizational network.
