After a successful run of the Damage and Reconstruction Needs Assessment Course, EMI offers another specialized course from WBI’s Natural Disaster Risk Management Program. The online course Financial Strategies on Managing the Economic Impacts of Natural Disasters, which runs from 16 November to 16 December 2009, tackles financial, economic, and development impacts of disasters and trade-offs (costs and benefits) involved in disaster risk financing.  It hopes to equip policy makers and disaster managers with tools and institutional designs for improved planning and budgeting as well as national macroeconomic projections.

Twenty participants from nine countries enrolled in the course. They come from government offices, nongovernment organizations, private institutions, international organizations and academic institutions.

The highly interactive course is implemented by the Course Support Team composed of Ms. Julie Catherine Paran (Course Director), Mr. Ronald Flores (Subject Matter Expert), Ms. Maria Matilde Go (Course Facilitator) and Mr. Jesus Dominic Dizon (Course Administrator).
