Drs. Tabassam Raza and Renan Tanhueco, Project Manager and Task Leader for Land Use Planning, respectively, of EMI’s Kathmandu Risk-sensitive Land Use Planning will be conducting a field investigation from Oct. 26 to Nov. 4, 2009 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
One of the key activities of the field visit is the three-day workshop with representatives from Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and the National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET-Nepal) to review and refine the Kathmandu Sectoral Profile and the Risk-Sensitive Land Use Plan. This will be followed by another workshop with KMC and NSET to finalize the strategies to be used in the advocacy campaign that aims to raise awareness and elicit support for the plan being developed.
A series of meetings has also been scheduled with government ministries and development agencies to gather their inputs to the Land Use Plan and gain support for the work the project is undertaking.
