After a successful action planning workshop last 16 September 2009, the Project Implementation Team together with the local stakeholders of the Makati City Risk-Sensitive Urban Redevelopment Planning will have another round of action planning workshop on 9 October 2009 to formulate the programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) that will be included in the redevelopment plan for Brgy. Rizal—a high-risk community in Makati City, Philippines.
The planning workshop aims to (1) review the visions, goals, and objectives that were initially developed during the first action planning workshop; (2) match the recommended actions with the goals and objectives; and (3) formulate the PPAs of the project based on the long list of the action plans.
The PPAs will focus on priority thematic areas of the project such as settlements, infrastructure and movement system, physical/environmental/land use, socio-economic, and the legal and institutional aspects of reducing the exposure and vulnerability of Brgy. Rizal communities to earthquake hazards.
The workshop will also be a venue to assess the capacities of local stakeholders in emergency management. This is in response to a devastating typhoon that recently hit Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon in the Philippines.
The redevelopment plan will be completed by December 2009.
