EMI shares experience at International Conference on Megacities in Leipzig

EMI partıcıpated ın the 2009 International Conference on Megacities: Risk, Vulnerability and Sustainable development. The conference was held in Leipzig, Germany on 7-9 of September. It was organized by the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research (UFZ) and included tried to address the risks and riving forces behind mega-urbanizations.

One of the main themes of the conference was to assess the vulnerability of mega-urban systems and discuss strategies that would steer the urban system towards more sustainable development. On behalf of EMI and Center for Disaster Management (CEDIM) at Karlsruhe University, Dr. Bijan Khazai presented the Megacity Indicator System in Istanbul and the Disaster Risk Management Master Planning Framework at the two-day event.
