A distance learning course on Climate Change and Disaster Risk is currently being run by EMI as part of the World Bank Institute's Global Distance Learning Program on Natural Disaster Risk Management (WBI-NDRMP). The four-week specialization course, which started last June 1, 2009, explores the linkages between disaster risk management and climate change adaptation, and outlines strategies, methods and tools for integrated climate risk management.
Thirty-seven development practitioners from Asia, Africa, Europe and America have enrolled in the course, many of them representing NGOs and international organizations. They are expected to complete a series of online and offline activities under the guidance of Dr. Antonio Fernandez (Course Director and Subject Matter Expert), Ms. Maria Matilde Go (Course Facilitator) and Mr. Irwin Gabriel Lopez (Course Administrator).
EMI and WBI jointly organized the distance learning course in support of the global agenda to manage risks associated with climate change through increased knowledge and awareness.
