After a successful pilot implementation of the Climate Change Course on 2009, EMI in partnership with the World Bank Institute is presently conducting its first Climate Change and Disaster Risk online course which runs from June 14 until July 14, 2010. The course provides a brief introduction to the science of climate change, reviews the climate change impacts on natural hazards, and the trends in magnitude and frequency of climatic extremes and changes in average climatic conditions. It outlines strategies, methods and tools for integrated climate risk management.
Participants from 12 countries namely Canada, Italy, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Myanmar, Nigeria, Uganda, United Kingdom, France, the Philippines, Venezuela took advantage of this new learning experience.
Mr. Antonio Fernandez whose work involvement in the formulation of National Framework Strategy for Climate Change in the Philippines serves as the Subject Matter Expert along with Ms. Julie Catherine Paran as Course Director, Ms. Maria Matilde Go as Course Facilitator and Mr. Jesus Dominic Dizon as Course Administrator.
