In ceremonies at the House of Representatives on 9 June 2010, Mayor Jejomar C. Binay was proclaimed as the next Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines. Mayor Binay is currently the Chief Executive of Makati City, the Philippines’ financial capital, and has been a member of EMI’s Board of Trustees since 2006. During his incumbency as mayor, Makati City has been an active partner in various EMI initiatives, the most recent of which was the implementation of the Risk-Sensitive Urban Redevelopment Planning Project in Barangay Rizal, one of the city’s most at-risk communities.
Mayor Binay’s six-year term as Philippine Vice President commences on 30 June 2010. The Board of Trustees, officers and staff of EMI extend their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes as he assumes his new responsibilities.
