The World Bank released a new report on Oct. 7, 2010, which examines the future climate risk of selected Asian megacities and identifies possible adaptation measures which can be undertaken. The findings of the report “Climate Risks and Adaptation in Asian Coastal Megacities” indicate that Metro Manila, Ho Chi Minh, and Bangkok will experience more frequent and widespread flooding over the next 40 years if current climate change trends continue. The report also looks at how sound urban environmental management strategies can help address such a scenario.
A summary of key findings and recommendations, as well as a downloadable version of the report can be accessed here.
