UNISDR regional office and training center to open in Korea in 2012
The UN Special Representative for Disaster Risk Reduction, Margareta Wahlstrom, and Ambassador Sang-gi Park, head of the Republic of Korea’s Permanent Mission in Geneva signed a memorandum of understanding last November 6, 2010 to establish the UNISDR Regional Office for Northeast Asia and a Training Center for Disaster Management in Incheon, Korea. This initiative is expected to contribute towards building international cooperation on disaster prevention and climate change adaptation. The two offices will be located at the Songdo International City in the Incheon Free Economic Zone.
