Linking climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction in cities

As climate change is becoming a growing concern for cities, the need to consider climate-related risks in disaster risk reduction efforts has never been more important. Thus, in line with its mission to support cities undertake DRR, EMI is currently exploring a partnership with the Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA) to develop a training course linking climate change adaptation and infrastructure resiliency at the city level.

The capacity building program aims to enhance the technical knowledge and competency of urban development practitioners towards mainstreaming climate change adaptation into the infrastructure planning and development of cities. It specifically targets mid- to top-level planners, engineers, architects, development practitioners, technical and project managers working in various cities in Asia.
