On 10 February 2008, a trilateral Memorandum of Agreement between Kathmandu Municipal Corporation (KMC), National Society of Earthquake Technology (NSET) and EMI was signed to formalize the joint implementation of two project work outputs (PWO) of the project titled “Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction in Megacities: A Pilot Application in Metro Manila and Kathmandu.” The said project is funded by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with contract between EMI, DKKV, the German Committee for Disaster Reduction, and the German Federal Foreign Office (FFO).
The main purpose of the project is to support KMC in putting in place a competent emergency management system and provide technical and managerial assistance for the development of a model land use plan that incorporates risk reduction parameters in its core goals and elements.
The MOA was signed by the organization’s duly authorized representatives namely Mr. Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, Chief Executive Officer of KMC, Mr. Amod Dixit, Executive Director of NSET and Dr. Fouad Bendimerad, Chairman of EMI.
