On 8 February 2008 EMI-DKKV/FFO Project Kathmandu Component Team Members, met with , First Secretary of the German Embassy in Kathmandu to discuss the project titled “Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction in Megacities: A Pilot Application in Metro Manila and Kathmandu.” Also present were the project's Local Partner in Kathmandu, the National Society of Earthquake Technology (NSET), represented by Dr. Amod Dixit and Mr. Ram Kandel, Executive Director and Project Manager, respectively.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss EMI’s past works and the project’s strategy to focus its activities on the Kathmandu Municipal Corporation (KMC). Dr. Dixit mentioned the extensive engagement of NSET with government agencies and its credibility among donors and international institutions in the country. Such broad involvement and knowledge would enable NSET to strengthen the capacity of the KMC, he said.
