PIT meets for Phase II of Makati Urban Redevelopment Planning project

The Project Implementation Team (PIT) for the Makati Urban Redevelopment Planning project met on 7 March 2008 at the Makati City Hall to review Phase 1 outputs and plan for Phase II implementation. The project is one of the components of the EMI- DKKV/FFO undertaking that aims to pilot the mainstreaming of disaster risk reduction in Metro Manila and Kathmandu through risk-sensitive land use planning and emergency management. The Phase II of the project is expected to commence in April 2008.

Among the agreements reached during the meeting were the following:

  1. Establishment of a dedicated project office at the Makati City Hall.

  2. Issuance of an Executive Order from the Makati Government creating a Steering Committee and the PIT.

  3. Tasking for the preparation of work and financial plan, strategic planning and technical cooperation with the Kathmandu Municipal Corporation.

  4. Scheduling of regular PIT meetings (i.e., every other Thursday, 2-4 pm, starting 27 March)

The PIT is composed of representatives from EMI and the Makati City Government. EMI Chairman, Dr. Fouad Bendimerad, headed the EMI technical team, while Makati was represented by the Urban Development Division, Department of Engineering and Public Works, Department of Environmental Services, Command, Control and Communications Center, Human Respurces Department, Legal Department, Liga ng mga Barangay, and City Building Office. Also present during the meeting were City Councilor Romulo Peña Jr. and Atty. Violeta Seva, senior consultant to the Office of the Mayor and EMI General Secretary.
