The Pasig City Resilience to Floods and Earthquakes Project has concluded a Legal and Institutional Arrangement Workshop for the City last Tuesday September 7, 2011 held at the Tanghalang Pasigueño. The workshop’s objective is gather data which will be used to conduct of legal and institutional analysis among others to support disaster risk management program, including emergency planning and coordination. A total of 23 participants representing different departments, civil society organizations, and national government agencies attended and took part in exercises mapping the functional relationships of their respective offices to the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) system of the City. An exercise using Disaster Risk Reduction Indicators (DRRI) developed by EMI was used to gauge the perception of Mainstreaming of DRR/DRM within Pasig City was conducted. EMI’s Gen. Sec. Atty. Violeta Seva and UP Professor Rolando Talampas conducted the workshops and presentations, Ms. Shelby Ruiz from the Office of Civil Defense gave a presentation on the DRRM Law. Atty. Reynaldo Dionisio, Pasig City Administrator gave the opening remarks while Pasig City Command Control Center (C3) head Mr. Ritchie Van Angeles provided the synthesis and the next steps.

The next project related workshop will be on Emergency Management, training sessions will be conducted by Mr. James Buika an Emergency Management Expert from Hawaii, USA.
