WBI Distance Learning Program on Natural Disaster Risk Management
As the focal point of the World Bank Institute (WBI) for its Disaster Risk Management Program in the Philippines, EMI organizes, coordinates and delivers the suite of specialized courses under WBI’s global DRM distance learning program. These courses are as follows:
1. Comprehensive Disaster Risk Management Framework
2. Financial Strategies for Managing the Impacts of Natural Disasters
3. Safe Cities
4. Community-Based Disaster Risk Management
5. Damage and Reconstruction Needs Assessment
6. Earthquake Risk Reduction
7. Disaster Risk Communication [currently under development]
8. Environmental and Disaster Risk Management [currently under development]
The WBI-EMI online training program offers the most practical, comprehensive, cost-effective and intense DRM training program available worldwide. To further enhance WBI’s DRM Program, EMI is collaborating with WBI to develop an additional course on disaster risk reduction through land use and urban planning.
Providing the pedagogical and tutorial support to course participants are EMI’s internal pool of specialists whose expertise range from earthquake engineering to environmental science. An external pool of WBI trained and certified facilitators and tutors provide additional subject matter expertise and online facilitation support.
