Be a Partner City

What is an EMI Partner City?

Part of the Cluster Cities Project (CCP) is to establish a worldwide network of megacities supporting the paradigm shift from reactive disaster response towards proactive risk reduction. The EMI Partner Cities Network maintains the active participation of 21 megacities and metropolises from the Americas, Asia, Euro-Mediterranean and Oceania.



Benefits

  1. Knowledge Sharing with other Partner Cities in events such as Megacity Forums and city-to-city sharing initiatives;  within partner organizations such as local government organizations (UCLG, CITYNET, METROPOLIS  and ICLEI), International organizations such as U.N. ISDR, UNESCO and others
  2. Network Building with other partner cities, academia, professional organizations, and international organizations
  3. Strengthen Capacity of your city through training courses on disaster risk reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) delivered by EMI and its partners
  4. Be aware and informed of latest knowledge, technology, activities, opportunities for DRR and CCA applications to cities
  5. Get expert and unbiased advice on what you can do to improve the safety and resiliency of your city to disasters and climate change
  6. Increase the visibility and Leadership of your city

How to Become an EMI Partner City?

 

 

To become an EMI Partner City all you need is a Letter of Intent signed by the Mayor or the highest administrative authority in the city, it should appoint a representative or focal person from the city with his/her contact details (phone, fax, and email address). There is no cost for becoming an EMI City Partner. Your obligations are: to participate in EMI events, be willing to openly share your knowledge, and commit to possibly hold one regional event once every five (5) years.
